Email from the Waterford Film Fest this morning;
"I am happy to annouce your film *"Penny"* has been selected for this years festival. Your film is under the * Best Short Film Category and will be apart of "Short Programme 2",*

I have to say the artwork for the Cork Film Fest is always top notch – i think this one is particularily good – any ideas as to who does them – are they local?
‘Penny’ premiered last friday night in the Triskel Arts Centre.
Thanks again to all who helped make the film and to all who showed up and gave their support on the night! I would also like to thank Ben Cuddihy and all at the Triskel – great venue!
I entered ‘Uncle Joe’, ‘The Sign’ and ‘Penny’
– I was thinking along the lines of throwing shit at a wall and some of it’s bound to stick – on second thoughts they may well have shit repellent walls in the Cork Film Fest!!!!

having said that none of those films are recent but to judge him as an actor you’ve gotta see the range.
On Clive Owen – I have to comment on this as ‘Children of Men’ is one of my favourite films of the last few years and Owen is excellent in it – and of course ‘Sin City’ and what about ‘Closer’ – he’s the best of a very strong cast in that. I know it’s a few years back now but he also holds his own in the excellent ensemble piece that is ‘Gosford Park’.
As for the worst films thing – anybody on this forum see last years ‘Host’ – the South Korean film – at the time it came out websites and reviewers etc. ranted and raved about it – I forked out a tenner for it in tescos and had to press the stop/destroy button on my DVD player remote – it’s shockin’.

OK seen as everyone so far on this thread is a MAC user I gotta represent the other side!!!
Although I trained on Avid (on MACs) I have worked on windows (PC) always and have never quite felt at home with MACs. I edit on my PC which has an Intel Celeron 2.67 Ghz and 1 Gig of RAM – should really upgrade to 2Gigs of RAM but I use Sony Vegas Pro 8 for editing and I can cut HDV fine with just 1 Gig – still would be better to have 2.
anyway – I like MACs and have cut films on them – not into the snobbery of pitting one against the other!
