http://dev.drop-d.ie/September 12, 2007 at 10:13 am #2863MarkMemberHi Everyone
HOORAY FOR HUMANS are shooting the video for their first single on [b:ead46]Sept 14th[/b:ead46]. They will be doing a gig in their living room with a crowd there. I thought it’d be cool to interview them then and do a bit of filming of the ‘making of the video’. Would you guys be available?
September 17, 2007 at 7:27 am #2864MarkMemberThis was postponed, I told Paraic when I found out. Will be in touch about the future date as soon as I know.
Any news lads?
September 17, 2007 at 9:38 am #2865SeanMemberParaic has done some offline logging on the footage captured thus far , so things will start to move soon enough in that respect .
other than that , Had fun chatting to Quent last Fri .
hehehehe
September 17, 2007 at 1:56 pm #2866inkyMembermyself and iain met the other day, chatted a bit about how we might use the steadicam, with quinny’s blessing obviously, to combat the ‘talking head’ syndrome. we vowed to have no more apartment interviews. a list was made of possible upcoming interviewees.
any other ideas welcome.are there any guitar makers in cork? id love to see a strat being crafted from square one
September 17, 2007 at 2:21 pm #2867SeanMemberThere is indeed a guitar maker up on McCurtain street , but acoustics not Strats
Strats are made by children in a taiwanese factory or something similar .I did have an idea , might be rubbush but it is different , Here’s the pitch
frame it as a magazine program / documentary. to make it more Present . that would involve
having "Links" scripted in between live footage and interviews " over to you there Colette , Roll it there " "and now to hear from Fight like apes fresh off stage at Cypress Ave "not Top of the Pops but kinda Donal Dineen meets current TV sorta vibe , So that the cohesive whole is there but it’s more like a string of mini documentaries . but not too TV .
Make any sense ?
September 19, 2007 at 10:42 am #2868MarkMemberI’ll put feelers out on the guitar idea Paraic. Sorry I couldn’t meet you and Iain but there was a few things I had to sort out.
That idea is workable Seán, not too TV or too styled for Current TV IMO tho. I haven’t seen anything but it does seem like we’ll have to tie it together in parts. I wouldn’t mind seeing a chunk of it to get the creative cogs going. Good to see we’re working away at it again. ” title=”Smile” />
September 19, 2007 at 10:47 am #2869DanMemberhow about setting up a small gig in the fitzgeralds park bandstand, that thing hasn’t been used in years, doestn even have to be real, or even just an interview there?
September 19, 2007 at 11:04 am #2870MarkMemberWe’d have to get permission from the council for it wouldn’t we? insurance? am i mad? would it be difficult?
I met a girl thats on the council recently……what was her name again??
I think UCC or the [b:a6aab][i:a6aab]new[/i:a6aab] school of music[/b:a6aab] are good options.

September 19, 2007 at 12:53 pm #2872MarkMemberAh yeah, I’m all for it! She was a cutie as far as I remember that girl on the council!
[b:b8a27]Paraic [/b:b8a27]Keep an eye on this thread.
http://www.peoplesrepublicofcork.com/~p … p?t=114682There will be a guitar maker in Clonakilty for the guitar festival this weekend. George Lowden from Downpatrick will be doing a workshop. He makes acoustic but I think he has done electric. Well worth going to if you are interested in making guitars yourself.

Reply With QuoteSeptember 20, 2007 at 11:20 am #2873inkyMemberthanks mark, now that ye mention the guy on mccurtain street, i think he’s a friend of a friend, ill check it out. He’s up by tigh fili i think, across from the colliseum?
a trip along to clon might be cool too, i dunno if its a folk/trad kinda thing down there but surely there some rock element
i just thought that it might be an interesting montage/location for interview, ie. some bass player rabitting on about how crap dublin venues are with the guitar in the vice or hanging on the wall in the background.
As for Fitzgeralds Park, that sounds great, reminds me of Supergrass’s ‘Going Out’ video.
Permission would be needed for a performance but not for an interview i’d say. -
