quinnyMemberUnless you are going to spent a couple of grand on a camera I wouldn’t bother. You will be able to take a camera out from the college to do your course work. Of course other people will also want to take out cameras so you won’t always get one when you want.
When I went I did however have my own camera though it wasn’t until after first year I picked it up and was more to do with the fact the I do video work on the side than I needed it for college.
Best of luck
by the way first year sucks big time, once you get over that you’ll be fine!

quinnyMemberHaven’t done anything with the k3, only being used as an ornament. Had planned to use it for My Ball but decided not to cos I didn’t want to spend a penny making it and also Seamus my DP had gotten a new toy a JVC HD GY111e so we used that. Cool Camera…
quinnyMemberfor screenwriting alone I wouldn’t say it would be worth it but you could catch the bug and decide there are other areas you might like to work in, good thing about St. Johns is you get a chance to dab your hand at everything.
quinnyMemberthanks, no need to feel sorry he’s still playing happily with his new ball… bouncy bouncy bouncy ball, this is my new ball… thats the opening to the sequel… ” title=”Very Happy” />

I’d like to keep it clear of Futureshorts though ,Futureshorts is Futureshorts, and it’s for short film lovers more so than Filmmakers. If were going to have Pitching sessions then maybe in a more suited atmosphere to that.[/quote:2e04e]I agree any pitching should be kept well away from future shorts. What happens if I pitch this really cool film with loads of exciting stuff and explosions and what not. The audience loves it and think that would be a really cool film and I’d like to see that film. The film is voted if for by the majority. Then it turns out it would be really difficult to make this film.
The audience might not think about all the practicalities of filmmaking and plus what are they risking by selecting a certain film.
Also maybe I could tell a bunch of my mates to come along just to vote for my film.
And another thing. Who in their right mind would want to pitch a film in a bar to crowd of people? If there is to be pitching have it to members in a suitable location or to a select group…
quinnyMemberyeah, crane shot looks great… really adds to it…
quinnyMemberbest of luck with it…
