The 2nd Underground Cinema Short Irish Film Festival and Awards Ceremony will take place on September 15t & 16th in the Screen Cinema in Dublin followed by the awards ceremony in Fitzpatricks Castle in Killiney on September 17th.
Any short film that we screen between October 2010 and July 2011 is considered for nomination for the Underground Cinema Awards. We have four more screenings to go before nomination. Our next monthly screening will take place on May12 th for which we already have a full line up. This means that I only have availability for three more screenings, one on May 26th, one in June and one in July (dates to be advised for both of these months).
After our final screening in July, our panel will announce the nominees for this years award ceremony. The categories are as follows:
Best Independent Film
Best Funded Film
Best International Film
Best Animated Film
Best Music Video
Special Audience Audience Award
Our panel will also select the top 30 films that we have screened to be show again in the Screen Cinema as part of our Short Irish Film Festival.
We will also be introducing a new category this year for the Best independent Feature Film. We have screened a number of feature films this year both in Ireland and the UK. We are currently looking three more features to screen between May and July (these features could be screened in Ireland/London or both).
Along with the Best Independent Feature Film category, we have introduced two more categories the best Comdey Category and Best International Film. With regard to the International category, we are looking for two more shorts from any country outside of Ireland to be screened before the end of our season.
If you are interested in submitting a short, an international short or a feature film to us, please send me an email to the following address firstname.lastname@example.org
We would need to hear from you as soon as possible as our line up for May 26th is already beginning to fill up.
Looking forward to hearing from some of you soon.
