Underground Cinema Season II

Hi Folks

After a short break were back with Season II of Underground Cinema. Our next screening will take place on Friday November 5th in the Kingston Hotel in Dun Laoghaire at 730pm. We’ve a fantastic line up as usual and we’ll be announcing the full program on the website very shortly.

Over the last month we’ve had some amazing submissions in and were really looking forward to screening them over the next 10 months. With the response we’ve had so far I have no doubt that we’ll be screening even more short films, animated films, documentary’s and music videos this year.

So this is our timetable this year.

1. Screenings from November (2 Screenings in November) to July

2. London Screenings in the Tricycle Theatre in March (Films selected to go to London will be films that we will have screened between November and February)

3. San Francisco Screenings (to be confirmed) Were currently speaking to a festival team in San Francisco with regard to bringing 10 short films over in July. As soon as everything is confirmed we’ll let you know.

4. The Underground Cinema Nominations in August

5. The 2nd Underground Short Irish Film Festival in the Screen Cinema on September 15th and 16th

6. The 2nd Underground Cinema Awards in Fitzpatricks Castle September 17th

Remember, all the short films that we screen are eligable for nomination for the Underground Cinema Awards. They will also be screeend once again in the Screen Cinema in Dublins city centre.

This year we’ll be adding one more category for the awards and that award is for Best International Film. As you all know, all the shorts that we screen are Irish shorts. This year we’ve decided to screen one international film every month as well.

As mentioned already, were inundated with submissions at the moment, so if you have a short film that you would like us to screen then just fill in the application form by using the following link. http://www.underground-cinema.com/submitafilm.htm You can email your submission as well. The sooner you contact us the better. It also looks very likely that we are going to be alternating between the Kingston Hotel in Dun Laoghaire and the Screen Cinema in Dublin. We dont charge a submission fee for any screenings in Dun Laoghaire but we will have to do so for the Screen screenings. The submission fee for the Screen Cinema is €50. If your interested in having your short screened in the Screen then just tick the correct box on the submission page.

This year we need all our films at 16:9 aspect ratio. If it’s not in 16:9, its not the end of the world, we’ll try and do something for you.
