‘Penny’ is the new short film from Southernman Films.
We shot ‘Penny’ in May in Cork and I finished a pretty decent version in time for the 18th of July (Cork Film Fest deadline) and finished a slightly more polished version this week – Cast and Crew screening soon!
‘Penny’ is a day in the life of a girl who finds out she is pregnant on the morning of her first leaving cert. exam.
The film stars Mary-Louise McCarthy (Aifric), Pascal Scott (Killnaskully), Victor Burke (8.5 Hours), Ciara O’Callaghan (Insatiable) and Martina Carroll.
Paraic English was DP and Conor Murphy was on sound. Kevin Waugh wrote and performed the score. Stills are by Ger Murphy and Anna Furmaniuk.

‘Penny’ premiered last friday night in the Triskel Arts Centre.
Thanks again to all who helped make the film and to all who showed up and gave their support on the night! I would also like to thank Ben Cuddihy and all at the Triskel – great venue!
